Bugs Tea Party

This encounter is titled "Bugs Tea Party". The tone of this encounter may be "funny, silly, unpredictable, unusual" and players may interact with "life-sized bugs tea party". Players will encounter a wizard named "Mister Muggles". "Mister Muggles" is a man wearing a brown robe.

Running The Encounter

Your party is wandering through a forest when they come across an abandoned mine shaft. The entrance is covered in vines, but there doesn't seem to be any way out of it. As you approach, you hear what sounds like someone singing happily off in the distance. You can't make out any words, just some strange musical notes being sung very cheerfully!

The insects are friendly unless provoked. If they are attacked, they may attack back. But even then it is easy to talk them down with a diplomacy check DC 15. Mister Muggles can also assist in calming the bugs. The party finds themselves at the bottom of an abandoned mine shaft. There is a large hole that leads up into the forest. They are surrounded by insects (and one very friendly wizard). The insects are having tea and crumpets with Mister Muggles and they don't seem to mind sharing their company with new friends. If the party has an inquisitive or curious character, have them approach the table where the bugs are enjoying a nice cup of bug juice. Ask if any of them would like some tea as well. They can then interact with the insects and make some new friends!

A Friendly Offer

After chatting with the bugs and enjoying some tea, you realize that there's no way out of here! You can only go up through the hole or back into the mine shaft where there are more bugs waiting for you. But before leaving, Mister Muggles asks if he could help with your quest (if you have one).

The encounter concludes when the party either: 1) leaves after having tea and crumpets or 2) accepts an offer of help from Mister Muggles on their adventure. If they choose to stay, then they can join him in exploring this abandoned mine shaft as well!
